The only Bank for long-term storage of erythrocytes in Ukraine was created on the basis of the Kyiv City Blood Center
Establishing a bank will ensure the availability of components of rare blood types that may be in short supply when urgently needed or needed in large quantities during emergencies.
The possibility is realized due to the extension of the storage period of erythrocytes up to 30 years. Currently, the maximum storage period is up to 42 days. This will make it possible to make stocks of erythrocytes of rare phenotypes.
The necessary equipment was delivered to the Kyiv City Blood Center to equip the bank.
The project was implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Parimatch Ukraine and the Kyiv City State Administration.
