PODYH

P.О.D.y.H is a non-profit charitable volunteer organization, created to help the Ukrainian people during the war with invaders who decided that they know how to live better for us.

Founding an organization was not part of my plans. I am afraid of something new, like everyone, but I was definitely sure that we couldn't just wait. We must do something. It was very difficult to start, all organizations were either already staffed or did not want to take a volunteer from Donetsk. And everyone acted chaotically, there was no clear directed scheme to work according to, everyone ran in different directions and did everything possible and impossible. Chaos…

No one trusted anyone, only through acquaintances it was possible to get a job somewhere. All my attempts, letters either remained unanswered or were redirected. And here is the answer. Roman Bietsenko, the father of my student from the school where I teach percussion, let me into this stormy event at his own risk by making a volunteer certificate for me.

Moving on, I tried to help everyone at once. I took on tasks that could not be solved with the experience and vision of the situation that were at the beginning of my journey. A little later, realizing the direction of action, a decision was made to start with the area where I became a conscious person. Poznyaki, Osokorky, Darnytsia and Kharkivska - that's where I could get by bicycle and help people in need. That's how the name of the organization appeared - "Podyh": Poznyaki, Osokorky, Darnytskyi and Kharkivskyi.
We provided food kits that bought ourselves with the collected donations from my followers on Instagram. Thanks to the caring people, this was the beginning of a great cause. We mainly helped abandoned elderly people, who were left by their children, alone, in spacious apartments of majestic Kyiv. At that time there were still very few refuges, no one went to the city that they planned to capture, everyone headed towards Lviv. The key person of the organization became the godfather of my girlfriend - Lyonya. He agreed to help deliver the kits on his car all over the left side of the Dnipro.

It started. In a day, we visited up to thirty addresses, behind the doors of which we were awaited by various stories of people who had almost lost their faith, and every meeting with them inspired us not to stop! The first time we went out of town to an orphanage in Stari Petrivci, local residents hid together protecting the children, food was not brought there because the occupiers were nearby. We are lucky. People did not expect help. Happy eyes and sincere smiles are the best appreciation for our work. We managed to increase the number of visits to de-occupied cities and villages thanks to a close partnership with the Goodwill company, which delegated humanitarian aid from World Central Kitchen.

While helping people, we looked for opportunities to provide food for animals that were also left by their owners when they left their homes. Thanks to people with a big heart who constantly support and save the lives of our smaller brothers. Looking back at all the links of our growth, I want to thank the organizations that did not respond to my letters) One attempt to trust a person can do many good things! I personally want to thank Roman Betsenko - the founder of Ufond - "Ukrainian Relief Fund", which has been helping young Ukrainians for 12 years, for his faith in people and goodness.
