On June 7, 2018, the LigaBusinessInform press center hosted a press briefing on the start of the procedure for monitoring and certification of the non-profit sector in Ukraine in order to combat fraud and corruption under the guise of charity / public activities.

The goal of the organization is to develop civil society in Ukraine by implementing international standards of Transparency & Integrity in the activities of the non-profit sector. Cheriti Tuner is the only monitoring NGO to be a member of the International Committee on Fundraising Organizations from Ukraine.

- Today in Ukraine there are many examples when financial assistance provided to solve specific social problems (treatment of seriously ill children or wounded soldiers, shelters for street animals, public associations of veterans and even the fight against corruption) is stolen or spent very inefficiently, - says the chairman of the board of "Cherity Tuner" Pavel Novikov.
- And under the guise of charitable or public organizations often work election headquarters of politicians or structures to protect the corporate interests of businesses. The monitoring we are launching aims to curb the appetites of dishonest philanthropists and activists, and we will do our utmost to support honest organizations.

- We will monitor the voluntary public reporting of non-profit organizations for compliance with the criteria of public benefit, assess the existence of conflicts of interest, financial transparency and efficiency of public funds, monitor the risks of money laundering and terrorist financing. There are also plans to change the relevant legislation on charity, as its current norms do not allow to prosecute even outright fraudsters, - clarifies the monitoring criteria and plans for the future director of "Cherity Tuner" Kateryna Zhuk.

The briefing was also attended by leaders of leading non-profit organizations that have already been monitored by Cherity Tuner - Vitaly Deinega (Chain "Come Back Alive"), Maxim Ryabokon (All-Ukrainian Volunteer Platform "Peoples Project"), Larisa Lavrenyuk (Chase "Crab"). ); Vira Valle (lawyer, author of books on corruption), Anna Kononenko (lawyer), as well as representatives of socially responsible business.

- The Ukrainian Business Council unites 66 domestic business associations, which include more than 20 thousand enterprises - a white law-abiding business, which is united and fights for equal conditions for doing business in a country where half of GDP is in the shadows, - noted Sofia Araslanova, a representative of the Ukrainian Business Council.- These are enterprises whose development strategy includes anti-corruption initiatives and the desire to cooperate with local communities in their development. We share common values with the Cheriti Tuner monitoring organization - the fight against corruption, honesty and transparency in conducting socially useful activities. We will invite the associations of the Ukrainian Business Council to use the Cherity Tuner offer to audit their social partners and initiatives in terms of public utility or financial transparency.
Vitaliy Kuzmenko, a representative of the Project Office for the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, supports the monitoring of public organizations: “Veterans’ associations are now involved in the implementation of priority projects on a competitive basis. competition and further monitoring of implementation and reporting to assess their effectiveness. "

- Thanks to monitoring and certification according to international standards, the non-profit sector in Ukraine is making a significant step forward in the formation of civilized norms of its activities. Fraudsters will not be able to raise money, trust in charity will return in our country. Every honest and transparent charitable foundation or public organization is interested in this. Therefore, it is very important for the Let’s Help Foundation, - says the director of the Foundation Olga Bondarenko.

- To receive the Certificate of Integrity and Transparency according to international
standards is not just an honor for us, it is an additional opportunity. And this is important for the whole sector, because it will nullify the manipulation of the trust of philanthropists, which is unacceptable when it comes to people in need, - said the chairman of the board of the Krona Foundation Olena Matsibokh.

- Education has become a magnet for dishonest actions, and charity in schools and kindergartens has turned in many cases from volunteering to the responsibility of parents, when only money depends on the education and success of the child. Our goal is independent monitoring of the real conflict of interests, financial transparency and efficiency of spending public funds, - says the activist of the public association "Parents of SOS" Olena Parfenova.

The event was supported by Pchelka Charitable Foundation, Everyone Can Charitable Foundation, Ukraine Without Garbage NGO, Tvoya Opora Charitable Foundation, Ukrainian Aid Fund (Ufond) Charitable Foundation, SOS Army Charitable Foundation, Happy Paw Charitable Foundation, Lets Help, the first online platform for exchanging bonuses for Yapomoga charity initiatives, the Peoples project volunteer platform and others.
