Many are now concerned about the COVID-19 pandemic. We offer some tips on how to inform your children without scaring them.

1. Don’t panic
People of all ages can be infected with the COVID-19 virus. As this is a new type of virus, it is not yet possible to say exactly what the consequences will be for children. But it is already known that children are less likely to become infected and carry the disease more easily. Authorities are taking every precaution to keep as few people as possible infected.

2. Give clear information
Take your child’s fears seriously, but don’t worry: it will only increase your fear. Just explain to children in an accessible way how they can get the virus and how best to protect themselves.

3. Hygienic measures
Teach your child appropriate hygiene measures: wash your hands regularly and thoroughly, cough or sneeze only in a bent elbow or handkerchief, avoid contact with people who cough or sneeze.

4. Use authoritative sources
The more disturbing the message, the more you worry: fear is contagious. Therefore, give the child only information from reliable sources - from the official media or from the website of the Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.

5. Do not "hang" in the network
In social networks often share false information: fake news, photos, tips, research ... It can increase your fear and through you - the fear of your children.

6. Be a role model
Children learn by looking at their parents. Look at yourself from the side: how do you cope with the situation? If you constantly google the latest news about the coronavirus, this will not be a good example for your child.

You save children!

Keep yourselves!
