Mankind is losing its hearing!

Every year in early March, International Hearing Day is celebrated.

Hearing loss is a common problem not only in Ukraine. The World Health Organization estimates that deafness and various hearing impairments affect more than 300 million people, and by 2050 that number could rise to 900 million. At the same time, doctors say that in 60% of cases, hearing loss can be prevented if diagnosed in time. Our world is getting too loud!

"Many people who have hearing problems are not ready to admit it. They are not ready to check their hearing, to hear about the problem, to start using a hearing aid, they are not ready to regain the opportunity to hear, - said the founder of the organization "Feel" Andriy Pyshny. "When a person loses his sight, it separates him from objects, when a person loses his hearing, it separates him from people."

The project "When Silence Speaks" was supplemented by the social action "Hearing Test" for the International Hearing Day. For children and adults, doctors conducted cognitive workshops, where a realistic model told about the structure of the ear and proper care of the hearing organ. Also, everyone could undergo a special examination and check their hearing at 7 doctor’s points. At the beginning of the procedure, doctors monitored the condition of the ear canals with the help of special devices, and then, wearing headphones, turned on sounds of different volume and intensity. Hearing them, the person must press the button on the joystick, confirming that he heard the sound well. It is worth noting that all procedures, workshops, as well as a doctor’s appointment were held absolutely free of charge right in the halls of Dream Town.As a result of the hearing test, 32% of people who underwent a screening procedure were found. During the event, volunteers not only informed visitors about the rules of ear care, but also conducted a social survey - why they check or do not check their hearing. A survey of more than 1,000 people found that 58% had never tested their hearing because they simply did not think about it.

Here are 5 tips from Feel:
• Take care of your health. If the ear plug does not go away in a few days - see a doctor immediately. Do not run the undead.

• Listen to music on headphones for no more than 1 hour in a row and no more than 2 hours per day.
• Control the volume level. The sound in the headphones should not exceed 60% of the maximum volume.
• Be sure to visit the ENT once a year and have your hearing checked.
• Listen and feel for your family and loved ones.
