No restrictions

The guy with cerebral palsy conquered Hoverla thanks to friends.

Last week, the Lviv team On 3 wheels made a special ascent to Hoverla - together with Ivan Maslyuk, who has cerebral palsy. With this ascent, they started a new project - "On 3 wheels La Joëlette". His goal is to travel in a special wheelchair for people with disabilities. Each trip will be a discovery of peace for a person with disabilities.

Ivan Maslyuk climbed Hoverla with friends. Because Ivan has cerebral palsy, he did so with the help of a special La Joelette wheelchair developed in France. During the first trip to Hoverla went 7 people, 5 of whom helped carry a wheelchair with Ivan Maslyuk.

"With the help of this cart, people like me can actively spend time and travel without restrictions," says Ivan Maslyuk. - The stroller has one wheel and special devices. The principle is that one of the members of our team pulled the cart in a sled in front, one kept his balance behind and controlled the brakes. The other guys took turns pushing. Of course, it was much easier to go down. "

Earlier, friends traveled to France, where they met with an organization that helps people with disabilities to spend time actively on special carts.

"It simply came to our notice then. And we decided to do the same in Ukraine. It seems unfair to us that people with disabilities in Ukraine are locked up in special boarding schools, parents are ashamed of their children, and society does not perceive or fear them, ”said Alexander Lutsyk, one of the participants in the initiative.

The next trip is planned in a few weeks. In total, in the summer the team will make more than 10 trips to the mountains. Only people with disabilities will be among the travelers: the project was created as inclusive.

Lutsyk added that it is not necessary to wait for the next trip. If there are people, the team will be provided with a special wheelchair.

"If a team is formed that wants to involve a person with a disability in the trip, we will be ready to give them a special wheelchair. Engineers have designed it almost perfectly: there are special shock absorbers, headrests, the ability for several people to lift it, "he added.
