Operations have begun for children with hearing impairments who are registered in the queue for cochlear implantation




Institute of Otolaryngology named after prof. O. Kolomiychenko National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine began to conduct operations on children with hearing impairments, who are registered in the queue for cochlear implantation and replacement of speech processors.

In this regard, the Institute informs parents (official guardians) about the need to quickly come with their children to the medical institution for treatment.

To date , as a result of tenders conducted through the electronic public procurement system ProZorro, the Institute received the first supply of equipment for the treatment of children with hearing impairment, namely:

- 220 implantable hearing aids for a total of 133.9 million hryvnias.

- 17 systems of bone conduction implantation for 5.2 million hryvnias.

The Institute has also begun replacing speech processors with cochlear implant systems.

As of June 19, 2019, the Institute received 8 units of this equipment from suppliers in the amount of UAH 2.1 million.
During June-July, another 230 cochlear implant systems and 128 language processors are expected to be delivered for a total of UAH 212 million.

In total , the State Budget for 2019 provided UAH 450 million for implantation hearing aids, which is three times more than the expenditures for these purposes in 2018.

The Ministry of Finance will continue to monitor and inform about the state of providing children with irreversible hearing impairments with cochlear and speech processors.
