Talk about charity

Friends, and we return to our column,“ What is charity? ”Where each of our characters shares what he puts into it. It has already happened that our today’s heroes are those who take care of the problems of those who are still completely defenseless, namely children. For example: Lilia Kuznetsova - an actress who deals with disadvantaged children and orphans, Antonina Chesnisha - a public figure who fights for the rights of mothers and Yuri Stratovich - a child psychiatrist who fights every day for their health.

Lilia Kuznetsova, actress, model, ex-chair of the Miss Ukraine National Committee, president of the City of Happy Children charity:

Lilia, what does the word charity mean to you?

For me, charity is an integral part of life. Since childhood, my parents taught me to help those who need help. As a child, I constantly sympathized with stray animals, brought home all the cats and dogs, trying to feed and save them. In adulthood, she has always supported the elderly and children who are in difficult life circumstances and who feel completely vulnerable. Now I have a unique chance to help disadvantaged children who have been abandoned by their parents or removed from families where adults with alcohol and drug addiction have forgotten about their upbringing, beaten and bullied their own children. I am not indifferent to this problem, and my task is to tell everyone about the unique Help Center, which has been dealing with the fate of orphans for 11 years. That is why charity for me now is not just a feeling of being useful, but a whole way of life.

How did you get the idea to do charity work? Were you inspired by someone’s example or some event in your life?

When there are so many disadvantaged people around, children are left behind by their own parents, and government agencies are unable to influence all issues, a very logical conclusion is that ordinary people can and should do specific actions and deeds to those who are ill, life has become at least a little easier. Therefore, the idea of doing charity is very organic in my lifestyle. I just can’t be on the sidelines. I really want to help, especially since I know how to do it to help effectively. And I am always inspired by people who, for all their employment, find at least a drop of time to be useful to society. There are many socially responsible people among my friends and acquaintances. They are my example, my inspiration. I just give them tips and tools to help. Now my friends Anna Andres, Ruslan Rotan, Serhiy Nikityuk, Dasha Astafyeva, Vitaliy Kozlovsky, many friends and even my son, who knows from his own experience about people’s attitude to charity and work, have joined the City of Happy Children Center. volunteer abroad. I am convinced, and I repeat to everyone - there are more good people than bad ones.

In your opinion, do you need to advertise your charity work? Do others see this as a good example, or as an attempt at publicity itself?

You need to advertise your charity work. Because, this is not a publicity stunt, but first and foremost a good example of how to do it. It always amazes me that people are ashamed of their "little" help. I’m sure there is no help! And if you even wrote a post on social networks and supported the activities of a charity - this is a huge help. After all, it is through such connections that people learn about problems and methods of solving them. Don’t be ashamed of doing good deeds. Charity should be public and inspire others.

Do you think that influential people with great wealth should help in the first place, or is it, to a greater extent, a social duty of every person?

Everyone should help those who need support. Therefore, a little help does not happen. When we collect projects to provide children with food for a month, we cannot pay the bill for 79,000 hryvnias without even 1 hryvnia. Therefore, the aid of one hryvnia is a drop in the ocean of good, without which it is impossible to do something great.
Help is a matter for everyone who cares about other people’s grief. And it doesn’t have to be an influential person. We can all influence any situation. And when there are many of us, we can do it faster and more efficiently.

Antonina Chesnisha, public figure, co-founder of the All-Ukrainian Association - Protection of Mother’s Rights:

Antonina, what does the word charity mean to you?

I believe that charity is a good deed, one of the brightest manifestations of goodness and humanity. And to really believe in the good you need, so to speak, not only to accept good deeds, but also to do them. I understand that charity is a help, a sincere, selfless deed, and similar deeds of like-minded people that can give someone hope, beautify the world and save lives.

In your opinion, do you need to advertise your charity work? Will others see this as a good example, or as an attempt at PR itself?

Previously, I believed that charity should not be advertised, including through the perception of others as an attempt at publicity itself. Now I think it is necessary for others to see a good example!
Some people do charity work because they used to be in a difficult situation and, knowing how it is, they want to help others. Someone wants to create a positive image or earn peace. But we should not exclude those who do good from the heart. It is not necessary to pay attention to condemners when doing good, because only the person himself knows exactly why he is actually engaged in charity.

Do you think that influential people with great wealth should help in the first place, or is it a social duty of every person?

This should be at the personal request and discretion of everyone, because everyone can help. Firstly, help is not only financial, and secondly, if many people will at least sometimes help, whoever can, can save more lives. But I hope that influential, rich people will be more involved in charity, they have resources, there is only desire ...

Yuri Stratovych, child psychiatrist, specialist in emotional, harmonious upbringing of children in the "Center for Special Children Yuri Stratovich"

: does that mean charity?

I believe that charity is something on a par with how to breathe or how to drink. A person needs to share his goodness and warmth with those who need it. In our lives, charity is extremely important because, to some extent, it forms a social model of behavior for others. We are rational beings, and that is why, through charity, we interact with other people.

Do you think a person should advertise his charity work?

On the one hand, he should not brag about this topic, it is not entirely correct. But his good deeds should be told by the organization or other person to whom he helped. I think this would be more correct, because again, it can serve as a positive example for others and for the younger generation. The country must know its heroes.

Do you think that people with high incomes should help first?

Of course, everyone should help. But as a rule, most often it is not the one who is rich in money who helps, but the one who is rich in heart and sincerely wants to help. I don’t think it is necessary to make a connection to the material side, because one person can donate 10,000 hryvnias, and someone 5 hryvnias, everyone has different opportunities and this is normal. It is important to remember that any help is important. In addition, I believe that you should not focus only on the fact that the good you do will definitely come back to you. First of all, you need to focus on the fact that with your help you are contributing to someone’s life.
