The Thread: Transformation Instead of Brokenness

An exhibition titled "The Thread: Transformation Instead of Brokenness" has opened at the Ukrposhta Main Post Office on Khreshchatyk Street. It features the stories of 15 children whose childhoods have unfolded during the years of the full-scale war. This was announced by the Ukrposhta press service.

"The Thread: Transformation Instead of Brokenness" is a joint project by the "Voices of Children" charitable foundation and Ukrainian photographic artist Marta Syrko. The exhibition was first displayed at the Museum of the History of Kyiv and is now touring the capital.

The exhibition covers the period from 2022 to 2026. The photographs for the project were taken by Ukrainian artist Marta Syrko. Among the subjects is 18-year-old Liza from Oleshky in the Kherson region, who spent part of her teenage years under occupation. Together with her family, she took in dozens of abandoned animals, caring for them daily despite the shelling.

Another subject of the exhibition is nine-year-old Liuba from Berdiansk; at the start of the full-scale war, her home became a shelter for people fleeing Mariupol. After moving to the capital, she had to make new friends and adjust to a new life far from her home.

Notably, in 2025, *Forbes* magazine included Marta Syrko in its list of 10 outstanding women who are protecting cultural identity and inspiring the world through their creative work. Her works have previously been exhibited both in Ukraine and abroad, notably in collaboration with an Amsterdam gallery and the Dutch National Opera.

The exhibition is open from June 9 to 21 at 22 Khreshchatyk Street.
