What is a congenital heart disease?

to help children with heart disease, we have prepared a series of publications on the following topics: What is congenital heart disease (congenital heart disease)? What variants of the Air Force exist or the Air Force classification? What is endovascular treatment (surgery)? And also stories of children with heart defects who will be helped within the action.

What is congenital heart disease (congenital heart disease)?
Congenital heart disease is a pathology (disease) in which the cardiovascular system from birth has certain defects in the development and structure of the heart and blood vessels. More often it is a collective concept of a whole group of diseases. Their appearance is possible in almost any part of the cardiovascular system: in the walls of the heart cavities, heart valves, walls of arteries or veins that carry blood to the heart or from it to tissues and organs. Changes in the structure of the heart and blood vessels disrupt the synchronous and well-established process of blood movement through the cardiovascular system. In many ways, changes in blood circulation can affect the severity of symptoms that appear in congenital heart disease.
There are many different defects, some of which can be simple and do not manifest themselves until old age, while others are so complex that the birth of a newborn requires immediate care and treatment.
Congenital heart disease is the most common form of all birth defects, as it occurs in every 3 newborns. Thanks to statistical research, it is known that about 4,000 babies with congenital heart disease are born in Ukraine every year. For the most part, a number of defects do not require urgent intervention and treatment.
However, some newborns with severe heart disease need emergency care or even surgery. Over the past few decades, the possibility of diagnosing and treating congenital heart disease has advanced, which has made it possible to treat increasingly complex variants of heart disease and achieve good treatment prognosis.
As a result of modern high technologies of diagnosis and treatment, children with congenital heart disease do not lag behind in development from ordinary children and become adults, can lead a more active lifestyle.

One such method is endovascular treatment.
